Brizaga worked closely with Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to perform a coastal engineering analysis and provide guidance in the methodology for flood protection measures. The Flood Protection Project assessed sea level rise projections, wind-driven waves, tide elevations, hurricanes and their associated storm surge to identify vulnerabilities and priority areas for protection. The analysis also included conceptual plans, layout, and anchoring details for the various types of systems around the site. Brizaga provided probable cost estimates associated with the detailed design, developed construction documents, in concert with the associated permitting for the project and the contractor’s material and installation costs for the house, gardens, and grounds.
