@Erica Echeverri

Erica Echeverri is the Outreach Coordinator for Brizaga. In her role, Erica leads complex projects including stakeholder engagement, public outreach, and development of educational materials.

Before joining Brizaga, Erica worked as a high school science teacher, where she taught biological sciences, zoology, and environmental science. During her time as a teacher, she was named Rookie Teacher of the Year for the South Region and runner-up for all of Miami-Dade County Public Schools in 2021.

Erica is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Florida International University (FIU). Her degree program has provided her with environmental policy, natural resource science and management, and sustainable development, which she is excited to bring to Brizaga.

Combining her most recent studies and previous work as a high school science teacher, Erica is deeply connected to environmental issues and wants to work towards a more sustainable community. Erica believes that by understanding how the Earth works, we can empower community members to better preserve and protect it.

In her free time she likes to spend time with her family, attend concerts, sporting events, and do outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and going to the beach with her two dogs.
